“Take risks in your life. If you win, you can lead. If you lose, you can guide.”
Describe working for SkyTeam in three words.
Cooperation, customer & evolution.
What would you say is the biggest change you have seen in your time at the company?
With SkyTeam growing from the founding four to the current 20 members, the needs of the airlines – influenced by their business model, strategy size, maturity and geography – have changed dramatically and continue to do so.
What do you think is the future for global alliances?
The future is already here and it’s bright: because global challenges require global responses, alliances are well poised for providing multilateral solutions to collective issues. There will be dense cores of airlines pursuing tighter integration, and initiatives that seemed unthinkable only a few years ago will become reality. Digital technology will power most of this transformation.
How are low-cost alliances and aggregators changing the alliance landscape (if at all)?
They are enriching an already carried landscape, making the quest for coalescing even more compelling.
What is your motto for working in aviation?
“Take risks in your life. If you win, you can lead. If you lose, you can guide.” (Swami Vivekananda)
Mauro will be speaking at Accelerate: Aviation 2017 this November, joining the panel discussion on the strategic insights stage about the future alliance landscape.
